Car Insurance

Insurance for young people, especially males is likely to be very high. Quotes in the region of £6,000 are common, but rarely do you need to pay such high sums. Shopping around will enable you to find the best quote, so try some of the links below, they will enable you to input your details and obtain quotes from several companies.

If you still have a provisional licence you should name an older experienced driver (probably a parent) as an additional driver, this will often reduce the premium.

You need to be aware that it is not legal to buy a car for yourself and then get a parent to insure it adding yourself as an additional driver. If you are the main driver the insurance must be in your name.

Servicing & mechanical repairs

Look after your car with regular servicing and it is likely to remain in good order. Unfortunately this all costs money. From time to time you will also find that you car needs repairs done to keep it running.

I can recommend JS Auto Services in Basingstoke, they have done a lot of work for me and I have always been pleased with the service I receive from them. They will collect and return your car. Prices tend to be lower than most main dealers. JS Auto Services are Citroën and Peugeot authorised dealers but can work on any make of car. However, if your car is fairly new you might want to consider taking it to an authorise dealer for your make of car.

Recovery

Many insurance companies will now add recovery to your policy as part of the package, check it out. However it will be basic get you home cover, whilst better than nothing you can still be left with problems, especially if your car breaks down within a mile of your home (very common, which is why it is not covered in the basic package). You can upgrade your cover through your insurance company, but the chances are you will be able to find a better or cheaper package elsewhere.

You could of course go to the AA or RAC but the are good alternatives around that are also cheaper. I a member of the CSMA I am covered by Britannia Rescue and I have had to use them on a number of occasions. I can highly recommend them as quick and efficient. Follow the link to find out more.
